The six enhancements to Business Central that Joesoftware is excited about

Microsoft recently announced what’s new and planned for Dynamics 365 Business Central through 2023.

The Joesoftware team reviewed the list of planned upgrades and we want to share the six things we’re most excited about.

1. Security groups

Security groups will make it easier to streamline the onboarding of new users. This feature will allow the person who sets up the active directory to assign Business Central roles that are tied to an employee’s active directory role. For example, an administrator can create a security group that gives salespeople the ability to create and post sales orders. Or, a security group that lets purchasers do the same thing with purchase orders.

2. Power Apps

Microsoft is continuously enhancing its Power Apps capability. This year, there will be more Power Automate templates and Power Apps available, allowing users to setup their own flows quickly and efficiently.

3. Preview journals

This enhancement allows you to preview item journals and 20 other journals and documents before posting. The Preview Posting action will help your team avoid mistakes. It offers the chance to review the types of entries that will be created when you post item journals or other inventory documents, before you commit to the changes in your database. This feature was already available in many parts of Business Central, but it is great to see the preview feature more widely available across the ERP platform.

4. Sync master data across companies

Previously, this feature was only available through customizations or third party products. This will allow organizations with multiple, similar companies to consistently manage master records across the companies.

5. Analyze feature

With this enhancement, users will be able analyze, group, pivot and total data in any list view in Business Central without having to use external tools such as Excel. This will save your team time and increase your efficiency.

6. A commitment to continuous improvement

The enhancements described above and others demonstrate Microsoft’s commitment to making Business Central a leader in the cloud-hosted ERP space. We are excited to see these new features and this ongoing commitment from Microsoft. Your ERP solution should enable your organization to improve operations and address pain points, and these new Business Central features do just that.

If you want to learn more about these enhancements or would like to know if Business Central could work for your organization, we’d love to talk with you.
