Government funding up to $10,000 per employee now available for Dynamics 365 Training
Alberta businesses now have access to significant funding to upskill your workforce through the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant (CAPG). This is a new program that replaces the former Canada-Alberta Job Grant. If you are looking to implement new business systems or enhance your team’s digital capabilities, this grant presents a valuable opportunity to offset training costs.
What is the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant?
The Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant is an employer-driven program designed to help businesses invest in productivity-focused training for their employees. Unlike general skills training programs, CAPG specifically targets productivity enhancement, making it particularly relevant for businesses undergoing digital transformations or system implementations.
The grant offers substantial financial support:
- Existing Employees: Government contributes 50% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $5,000 per employee per fiscal year
- New Hires from Unemployed Pool: Up to 75% of eligible training costs could be covered, up to a maximum of $10,000 per employee per fiscal year
- Annual Cap: An employer is eligible for up to a maximum amount of $100,000 per fiscal year
This means if you’re hiring new team members and training them on business systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, you could receive up to $10,000 per employee in training support.
Training Areas for Business Central and Dynamics 365 Clients
Based on the grant’s focus on productivity skills, businesses implementing or optimizing Microsoft Dynamics solutions should consider these potentially eligible training investments:
Technical and Digital Skills Training:
Microsoft certification programs for Business Central or Dynamics 365 Operations
- Power Platform training (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) for system integration
- Advanced reporting and analytics training beyond basic system reports
- Database administration and performance optimization courses
Business Process and Operations Management:
- Advanced inventory management and supply chain optimization training
- Financial consolidation and multi-company management courses
- Manufacturing execution systems (MES) integration for D365 Operations users
- Change management certification for system implementations
Important Note: The grant excludes basic end-user training and “novice-level” instruction. Training must demonstrate clear productivity enhancement and be delivered by qualified third-party providers in Alberta. It is important that interested businesses focus on advanced, certification-level programs that go beyond general system navigation to maximize your approval chances.
Who Can Apply?
The program is available to private sector businesses, non-profit organizations, First Nations and Metis Settlements. Training must be completed within 52 weeks and be located in Alberta. You must use a qualified instructor and the training must be relevant to the employee’s job.
Taking Advantage of this Opportunity
This program recently launched and information sessions were held throughout August 2025. Now is the ideal time for Alberta businesses to explore how CAPG can support your training initiatives.
Whether you’re planning a system implementation, looking to enhance your team’s digital capabilities, or preparing for business growth that requires additional skilled employees, the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant could significantly reduce your investment in employee professional development and training.
